陈小生与卫英姿确立情侣关系后，因人生规划分歧产生矛盾。小生渴望结婚生子，英姿却一心扑在事业、想晋升督察，多次推托婚事。两人频繁争吵，最终分手。分手后，法证科鉴证主任方晴被小生的细心果断打动，主动追求并求婚；英姿则在与梓键的相处中开启新恋情。
与此同时，三元再度怀孕却查出毒血症，为保住胎儿不惜以命相搏。其丈夫程峰晋升总督察后，与直属上司梓键因作风差异冲突不断。程峰负责打击“洪英社”，多次重创其非法生意，遭龙头蒋天颖记恨。蒋天颖被杀后，程峰一度被诬陷为凶手，虽洗清嫌疑却离奇失踪，种种迹象暗示其遇害，令三元悲痛欲绝。
