本剧以消防局的通信指令中心为舞台，描绘了站在用一部电话维系生命的“最前线”的指令调度员们的“现实”。指令调度员们应对紧急通报，发出适当的救护车、消防车出动指令。他们是拥有各种技能的消防、急救专家集团，运用通信技能和医疗知识，为了挽救濒临危机的“生命”，每天倾听“声音”，用“声音”拯救“生命”。。「下山メシ 高崎篇」では、群馬県高崎市のシンボル・榛名山（はるなさん）を訪ね、富士山のように整った形が特徴の榛名富士を登ったあと、榛名湖畔の食事処・大蔵坊（だいぞうぼう）こばやしを訪れる。わかさぎフリッター、メンチカツコロッケ（メンコロ）など揚げ物とともにビールを楽しみ、高崎名産の小麦粉を使ったうどんで満腹に。番組初となる“デザートタイム”も設けられ、高崎産フルーツをふんだんに使用したパフェやパンケーキで締めくくられる。。Scientists at a secret underground complex have found a way to travel to another dimension.
