This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。九○年代，東南亞少女懷抱憧憬，遠嫁到這座富足之島… 第一段故事：關於來自越南的文慧，她與建築工丈夫、婆婆，同住在島上荒郊，三人對「家」各有期待；怎料屋內瀰漫不安，災禍更環伺家外、侵襲他們的生活，也迫使文慧幸福幻滅、飄泊於異鄉，苦盼著千禧年降臨。第二段故事：島上進入新時代，某位神祕越南女子現身都會，她是一名徵信探員，邊出任務抓姦，邊為實現理想，探究起文慧及這座島嶼的經歷，但她的追尋旅途中，竟接連遇見那些…似曾出現於往日的人事物境。 本片藉由兩段敘事，對照台灣社會的今昔，看新移民女性在異鄉不同時代下，能否重拾自我、掙脫困境？能否與在地人一起，活出真正的自由？。
