该剧以平成6年（1994年）埼玉县白骨遗骸案为引，警方通过初代菊水月作棋子展开调查，交织上条桂介挑战龙升战六冠王的棋局对决。通过双线叙事回溯昭和47年（1972年），幼年上条在退休教师唐泽引导下接触将棋，并与传奇棋士东明重庆相遇，命运因将棋发生转折，讲述了他背负残酷命运、追求成为最优秀棋手的半生历程。剧中融入悬疑元素，真实还原将棋头衔战仪式，展现竞技世界的哲学内涵。。因医疗事故而被迫辞职的倒霉医生程池，为了东山再起而带着叛逆女儿程程一同跨上了通往四川达州的江轮。同一时间，神秘的西装男带着一个与程池同样的箱子上了江轮。另一边，二男一女三个鬼鬼祟祟的小贼意外盯上了西装男手中的箱子，为了这个神秘的箱子，三拨人笑料百出，最后完成亲情任务同时也完成护送任务。。Four young people are enjoying the easy life, cruising on a yacht in the sun.
