这是一部另类的科幻电影，像片头的旁白的那样，这里不是地球，而是某个类似地球的星球，那里的文明进化到了类似于地球上的欧洲中世纪。故事改编自 Strugatsky兄弟的小说，这个科幻的创意就是如果当年没有文艺复兴，现在的欧洲文明又会是什么样子？这个故事里，一群来自地球的科学研究人员被送往到那个星球，去引导那个社会的文明发展进程，他们不得使用暴力，不得强行干预，只能引导，男主角像一位先知，也只是整部电影里行为举止唯一正常的人，他在社会底层不断的行走，去开化人们，电影就像纪录片一样跟着他的脚步由此展开。。Three elderly men and grandson Yonatan find themselves stuck together in a Jerusalem nursing home.
