林肯机场总经理贝克斯非尔德，日理万机，工作使其家庭出现危机，妻子要与其离婚，而特与同事斯通又暗生情愫，一次意外使得一架飞机困在主要跑道上，然而祸不单行，正当人们寻求对策时，该机场有架飞机上一个想领取保险金的疯子又引爆炸弹，受损飞机必须返回机场并在主跑道上着陆，正当危机时刻，出色的飞机专家帕特洛尼冒者生命危险把困在主跑道上的一家飞机开走，使遇险飞机安全着陆。贝克斯非尔德也与女助手开始一段浪漫的爱情故事。。Speedy" loses his job as a soda-jerk, then spends the day with his girl at Coney Island. He then becomes a cab driver and delivers Babe Ruth to Yankee Stadium, where he stays to see the game. When the railroad tries to run the last horse-drawn trolley (operated by his girl's grandfather) out of business, "Speedy" organizes the neighborhood oldtimers to thwart their scheme.。
